Year 6 Residential 2026
Oakerwood Residential 2026 – An Adventure to Remember
This year, our pupils headed back to Oakerwood for an unforgettable overnight residential. From the moment we stepped off the coach, the excitement was sky high.
Day 1: Settling In and Jumping Straight Into Adventure
We arrived full of energy and quickly settled into our cosy glamping pods. Once bags were dropped and beds chosen, it was time to get stuck into our first challenge.
Our opening activity was Low Ropes, where teamwork and trust were essential. Pupils guided each other blindfolded along rope lines, balanced across thin poles and even attempted to climb the world’s slippiest tunnel. There were wobbles, laughter and plenty of determination. Everyone showed incredible bravery trying something new.
Next came Rafting. We learnt how to paddle forwards, backwards and rotate as a team. We played games on the water, raced each other and finished with a brilliant raft side talent show. Team Mr Charlton took the crown. Afterwards, everyone cooled off with a refreshing swim in the lake.
The evening brought dinner and lively camp fire games, even though there was no actual fire. There were songs, silliness and plenty of smiles before heading back to the pods for a well earned rest.
Day 2: Action, Teamwork and Big Challenges
After breakfast, we packed up our pods and tidied our dorms, ready for one last burst of adventure.
Our morning began with Junior Paintball. Pupils battled through three intense games of Capture the Flag before finishing with a fast paced Raise the Flag challenge. Everyone showed fantastic teamwork and resilience. The Red Team claimed the most points overall.
The excitement continued with High Ropes, a true test of courage and confidence. Pupils soared through the trees on the zip line, tackled the challenging monkey climb and raced each other up the Dave Challenge. This vertical climb demanded strength, speed and determination. The encouragement between teammates was incredible and every child pushed themselves further than they thought possible.
With hearts full and legs tired, we boarded the coach for the journey home. The bus was filled with chatter, laughter and plenty of stories about favourite moments.
A Trip Filled With Courage, Laughter and Memories
From low ropes to lake swims, talent shows to paintball victories, zip lines to the mighty Dave Challenge, our Oakerwood residential was packed with fun, friendship and unforgettable moments. The children were supportive, enthusiastic and brilliantly behaved throughout. We could not be prouder.
