Swimming
Children at Queen Emma's Primary School attend swimming lessons within Years 3 - 6 at the Windrush Leisure Centre.
Year 6 Swimming Competency
Percentage of pupils within our 2023-24 Year 6 cohort that can do each of the following:
-
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres: 94% (30/32)
-
Use a range of strokes effectively: 94% (30/32)
-
Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations: 94% (30/32) (All children took part in a water safety programme)
Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements. We have used the funding to support top-up sessions for Year 5 and 6 children.
This information relates to our previous Year 6 cohort from their time in these lessons.
